Advanced Micro Devices is now offering advanced Fusionprocessor, so the older-generation CPUs, quite understandably, began to fade from the picture, Athlon and Phenom II II units, it seems, in the lead.
End-users may remember that, not too long ago, reports surfacedsaying that a particular central processing unit of Advanced Micro Devices will cease production.
More specifically, the model of the Phenom series II chips have started to be removed, allowing space for their current-generationsuccessor.
Of course, as one would expect, it's just one of the first steps inSunnyvale, California-based plans the company.
Now, a new report has emerged, one that says that not onlyPhenom II, but also the Athlon series II unit will step aside to allow room for high-end FX series, mainstream series-and low-ende-series.
At the time of the first quarter of next year (2012) came, Athlon IIunits for AM3 socket should account for less than 5% of totalshipments.
At that point, the Athlon II X4 650 and 640 units, as well as theAthlon II X3 450, temporarily has stopped being produced (at the end of the third quarter).
That same time frame given for the phasing out of the Phenom X4and Phenom II II 970/965 565/560 X2, the Phenom II X6100T/1090T and Phenom X4 II 980/975 set to ceasemanufacturing at the end of the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Phenom X4 II 910e and 620e Athlon X4 II, theywould, too, out of the picture at the end of this period of threemonths last year.
Furthermore, Athlon X2 II series (255 and 270, for example) shouldgo in late September.
The Athlon II X4 610e, will, in fact, become one of, if not the fastestto disappear, in July, along with several others.
