During the E3 2011 conference, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have showcased plenty of new things about their upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, including a video gameplay demonstration that was presented during Microsoft's own press gathering, as well as a huge amount of new screenshots.
The upcoming Tomb Raider reboot is set to rewrite the history of the long-running franchise, depicting a younger, more inexperienced version the series' main heroine, Lara Croft, as she is forced to survive during her first big adventure on an island filled with deadly secrets."Armed with only the raw instincts and physical ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Tomb Raider delivers an intense and gritty story into the origins of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor," read the game's official announcement. We've already seen the extremely impressive cinematic trailer for the game last week, so Square Enix, its publisher, and Crystal Dynamics, its developer, have decided to present something even better to the legions of Tomb Raider fans. This includes a big number of screenshots, depicting various scenes from the new game, as well as a video gameplay demonstration of an intense scene from the beginning of the title's story. You can really see that this isn't just like previous Tomb Raider games, as Crystal Dynamics decided to focus more on the survival aspect of seeing Lara face off against many dangers and trying to overcome them with varying degrees of success.Sadly, even if the game impressed almost everyone attending E3 this year, there is a bit of bad news, as the new Tomb Raider is currently scheduled to arrive for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in fall of 2012.That's right, more than a year separates gamers from the arrival of the new Tomb Raider game, so, until then, check out the screenshots and the video of the title below.
