E3 2011 was home to quite a few big announcements from Ubisoft, but by far one of the most intriguing was the reveal of a brand new Brothers in Arms game currently in development at Gearbox Software, in the form of Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.
Ubisoft showcased plenty of its in-house projects at E3, from Assassin’s Creed: Revelations to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier or quite a few casual titles like Raving Rabbids Alive and Kicking, Rayman Origins or Just Dance 3.The company didn't forget about its longtime partner, Gearbox Software, as the president and CEO of the studio, Randy Pitchford, took the stage during Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference to present Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.While previous titles in the Brothers in Arms franchise favored historical accuracy, team tactics and focused on highlighting the gruesome nature of World War 2, this new title changes up quite a lot of things, while keeping the second world war location.“The Brothers in Arms franchise has been renowned for its gritty direction that has dropped players into the middle of World War II,” said Adam Novickas, U.S. director of marketing at Ubisoft. “With Brothers in Arms Furious 4, Gearbox brings the action to a whole new level filled with unexpected twists and over-the-top battles that are sure to please new players and fans alike.”Basically, Furious 4 depicts the story of a four-man team during the famous war which goes on a rampage against the Nazis, much in the same way as the recent Inglorious Bastards movie, which saw a rag tag team of soldiers try to assassinate Adolf Hitler."Set in World War II, Brothers in Arms Furious 4 is a brutal first person shooter that offers an exciting campaign mode playable with up to four players in co-op, as well as an extensive competitive multiplayer mode," Ubisoft said about the game. "The story follows four fierce and fearless warriors tracking the Führer himself. As one of the Furious 4, players will use special weaponry and unexpected combat abilities to fight the greatest threat the world has ever faced: an experimental Nazi army conceived in secret by the Third Reich."Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 is currently scheduled to appear for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms during the first half of 2012.Until then, check out the presentation of the game made during Ubisoft's E3 conference.
