Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Gets New Details

The Metal Gear Solid HD collection is coming later this year
Konami has released a few more details about its upcoming Metal Gear Solid HD collection, which is set to encompass three of the most recent games in its long-running series, all remastered for current-generation platforms.

Konami surprised plenty of its fans before the start of last week's E3 2011 conference, when it announced that it is joining the remastering trend started by other companies like Sony or Ubisoft, by bringing some of its classic titles to consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.The first such collection is the Metal Gear Solid one, which is comprised of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, both of which were released on the PlayStation 2 many years ago, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which appeared last year for the PlayStation Portable platform.“The Metal Gear Solid games have been a huge success, and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is a stunning way to celebrate this most inventive and entertaining series,” explained Martin Schneider, General Manager for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “Every aspect of the three games has been updated to ensure they look as fresh on their new host formats as they did when first released. Stealth fans should be prepared… November will mark the return of one of gaming and Konami’s most iconic series.”The games will be released on a single Blu-ray disc for the PS3 and two DVDs, for the Xbox 360, and boast remastered visuals, with upgraded textures as well as support for trophies and achievements, respectively.Konami insists that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is overlooking the entire remaster process, which will be completed this November, when the games are going to be released for the two aforementioned platforms, both as retail versions as well as downloadable ones. After that, Konami is going to release another HD collection in the form of the Zone of Enders one, scheduled to appear in 2012.
