Seeing as how the PlayStation Store is now fully operational, Activision has just announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops will finally be receiving the Escalation downloadable map pack, as well as a new double XP weekend for the game at the end of the week.
Call of Duty: Black Ops, the most profitable entertainment property released last year, has received its second downloadable content pack, the Escalation map pack, for the Xbox 360, at the beginning of May, and for the PC, last week.
Now, after Sony got the PlayStation Store back online, Activision has confirmed the release of the Escalation map pack for the PlayStation 3, which is out on Friday, June 10.
Just like the First Strike DLC, which appeared back in February and March, Escalation brings four new maps for the competitive multiplayer mode, as well as a new scenario for the cooperative Zombies one.
Check out the details about the new maps in Escalation below.
"In Multiplayer, battle it out in "Hotel", on the roof of a Cuban luxury hotel and casino against the vivid backdrop of old Havana; "Convoy" delivers intense, close-quarters combat at the scene of an ambushed US military convoy; "Zoo" takes you on a wild ride in an abandoned Soviet Russian Zoo, with danger at every turn; "Stockpile" pits players in a remote Russian farm town housing secret WMD facilities."
Fans of the Zombie mode will be able to enjoy the extra special Call of the Dead scenario, which brings brand new playable characters, including famous Hollywood actors like Sarah Michelle Gellar or Danny Trejo, who are forced to battle the legions of undead led by famous zombie movie director, George Romero, on a derelict Siberian ship.
In order to properly celebrate the release of the Escalation DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the company is also running a special Double XP weekend, starting on June 10, which rewards players with double the amount of points and easily allows them to progress through the ranks in the multiplayer mode.
